TikTok begins testing horizontal full-screen mode
When it will become available to everyone is still unclear.
The social network has confirmed to TechCrunch that it is conducting tests with some users around the world. Those who will have access to the function will see the "full screen" button; on square or rectangular videos in your feed. Clicking on it will open the video in horizontal full screen mode.
This function — another step towards the YouTube model, the newspaper notes. In February 2022, TikTok allowed all users to upload videos up to 10 minutes instead of three minutes.
According to parental control software developer Qustodio, TikTok is the world's most viewed child and teen compared to YouTube, with an average of 91 minutes per day spent on TikTok by the end of 2021 compared to 56 minutes per day for YouTube.
At the same time, in June 2022, the WSJ reported that the audience of YouTube Shorts, a service competing with TikTok, reached 1.5 billion users per month. TikTok reached 1 billion monthly active users in September 2021.
